To start off I’ll give you a brief overview of the company. Then I’ll go over the products, business opportunity, how the commission structure works, and whether or not I recommend Younique to others.

Overview

Younique is a beauty product company that was created in 2012.

They sell sell all your ordinary beauty products, mascara, face creams, lip gloss, you name it. There are a lot of products to choose from and if you have come across their products it was probably on Facebook.

You see, Younique is also a MLM company that offers individuals a business opportunity. Anyone can sign up and promote their products and make money.

What makes Younique fairly different from other MLM’s is that it’s members sell their products on social media, Facebook in particular. So its not like your ordinary MLM where you would be selling face to face. All the selling is done online.

A Look at Younique’s Products

As I said, there are a lot of products in the categories of Eyes, Lips, Face, Skin Care, Body, and Tools. And just to give you some examples here is a screenshot of the different products that they have in the Skin Care category alone…younique products

The one product that they really hit the nail on the head with was the Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+ mascara. This product is said to increase lash volume by 400% and it seems to sell pretty well.

Compensation Structure

As I’ve mentioned, Younique is a MLM style business.

For those of you who may not know, MLM stands for multi-level marketing. And basically what this means is that members can recruit other people into Younique and get paid commissions off of what they sell, and what their recruits sell, and so on.

The Younique commission structure is somewhat confusing but I will give you a brief overview of how it all works.

There are 4 status levels that you can obtain as a Younique “Presenter”, which is just the word they use to call their members who promote their products. The status at which you are at will greatly effect the amount of money that you can make. These levels include…

  • Entry Presenter
  • Exemplary Presenter
  • Elite Presenter
  • Exclusive Presenter

And within each of these levels there are 2 sub-levels.

Everyone starts out at Entry Presenter “white” level. And to maintain this level you must be able to sell $125 worth of products in the first 3 months.

If you are able to sell $1,000 of products you are then bumped up to the Entry Presenter “yellow” level. The more products you sell the higher up you can move.

And in order to move up even further to the Exemplary Presenter “pink” level you must be able to sell a certain amount as shown above, ++++ you must be able to recruit someone into the program and they must be able to achieve Entry Presenter status.

You can make some decent money just selling products yourself. But if you want to have any chance of making good money with Younique you are going to have to move your way up the levels and recruit, recruit, and recruit.

With each level that you move up you can earn more and more money. And having a lot of recruits is where the money is at.

As you can see below, if you make it to the Exclusive Presenter “black” level, you can earn money off of third generation recruits. This means you can earn money off of your recruits’ recruits’ recruits.

Get a lot of recruits working beneath you and you can make money by the work that they do.

No, Younique Is Not a Pyramid Scheme

Younique is a MLM, not a pyramid scheme. They both are very similar in structure and have many of the same characteristics, but there is one key difference.

With both MLM’s and pyramid schemes the commission structure is set up in a pyramid style manner. You are at the top of your pyramid, and all your recruits are beneath you, and all of their recruits are beneath them, and so on.

With both you make money from the efforts of the people that you recruited into the business.

But the key difference is that legitimate MLM’s sell products, whereas pyramid schemes do not and only rely on people buying into the scheme to pay their members.

Younique of course has legitimate products so it is not an illegal pyramid scheme.

Do I Recommend Younique?

As far as the products go I don’t really have an opinion because I am a guy and don’t know much about them. But as far as the business opportunity goes I would say that it is OK.

Younique isn’t very old. It just started in 2012, so the market isn’t completely saturated yet which means there is still money to be made as someone promoting their products and recruiting others.

You just need to know that it won’t be easy. Only around 1-3% of Youniques presenters actually “make it” and make good money doing so. Around 95% either quit or get their accounts deactivated at 3 months.

With that said… I do recommend Younique for those of you who love beauty products and have enough drive and determination to make it. It will take a lot.

If you aren’t up to date on beauty products and don’t have a genuine interest in them, then this isn’t for you. The way that you are going to be selling your products is via virtual parties on Facebook. So you are going to have to know what you are talking about and convince people to buy.

Also if you don’t have a decent sized social media following its going to be hard for you. Most of the people that make really good money doing this already have a big network on social media.

If you are like me and are just not the salesperson type, and you want another option for making money with your own business, you should read my post on how I make a living working online (link below). I work for myself online and its a pretty awesome career. In the post I wrote I explain what it is that I do, how it all works, and how others can do the same.
