Is Valued Opinions a Scam? Some Things You Should Know
If you are looking to make some money online through Valued Opinions there are a few things that you should know first. Its not the incredible opportunity that it may seem and some of what they tell you is very misleading.
Is Valued Opinions a scam? No, its not. They are a legitimate site and you really can make money by taking simple surveys online through them. But like I said… its not all its cracked up to be. I have reviewed this site and I would like to go over what I think you should know before you decide whether or not you want to sign up.
What Is Valued Opinions?
This place is an online market research panel. They get paid big money to collect consumer opinions for companies all over. This is to help them better be able to market products and do better business.
A small amount of the money that they get paid is offered to people like you and I as incentive to take online surveys, which is one of the easy ways to get people’s opinions on things.
So to put it simply… companies want consumer opinions on things so they can make more money > they pay Valued Opinions to go out and get these opinions > Valued Opinions gets these opinions by offering small amounts of money for people to take online surveys and more.
How It Works
Its pretty simple. First you need to sign up at valuedopinions.com which only takes a minute or so. This is free to do and all you need is your name, email, gender, DOB, and a few other things.
After you register the first thing you should do is complete your profile surveys. These surveys are the same for everyone and are just to get a good idea of who you are, what you do, what you like, etc. They cover topics like politics, insurance, children, business, leisure, interests, electronics, shopping, beverages, and a bunch more.
The reason that filling out these profile surveys is so important is because they will help Valued Opinions match you up with appropriate surveys, which you will see is very important.
After completing that, you are ready to roll. You will start to be invited to take surveys, test products, and more.
With each survey you complete, or product you test, you will earn money. But this money will not be available to you immediately. Once you accumulate enough you will then be able to cash out for things like gift cards.
What Rewards Can You Get?
You can get all sorts of gift cards. The kicker here is that you will have to pay more money than they are worth most of the time.
For example take a look at the screenshot below.. There is a $20 Amazon gift card available but you will have to pay $22 to get it.
The best reward in my opinion is the Visa card, because that is something that you can use just like any credit card and can buy anything with it. Unfortunately for this you will have to pay even higher above the real value price to get it.
How Much Money Can You Make?
Of course this is the most important question here. And unfortunately for you the answer is not enough.
They make this opportunity seem better than what it really is. I have seen advertisements that say you can earn up to $5 per survey. While this is possible, its rare.
The industry standard for paying online survey takers is extremely low and this is because it is getting easier and easier for companies like this to get people’s opinions online.
Valued Opinions is nothing out of the ordinary and you can generally expect to make anywhere from $1 – $4 per survey although occasionally will get an outlier that pays out more.
If you do the math for the time of the survey and the pay, and then factor in the time wasted trying to qualify for surveys, you are making less than minimum wage.
As with any paid survey site out there, this site has all the common complaints. However, it also has a few more more questionable ones that make me wonder about the legitimacy of it all.
This is a given. Like I said, this is now the industry standard and its not going to change.
You will NOT qualify for every survey you try taking. At the beginning of each, there will be questions that are meant to “screen out” people that aren’t a good fit for the survey. So you may be 5 minutes into the survey and get kicked out which is very annoying but all too common.
This is why it is important to accurately fill out your profile. This way you will be better matched with surveys.
Lack of Opportunity
Its not like you can just take surveys back to back all day long. There just aren’t enough available. They also expire so you are likely to have one and try to take only to find out that it has expired.
I have read multiple complaints online by people that claim it gets harder to make money (less surveys) once you start getting close to the cash out threshold. I don’t have any personal experience with this but it is something to consider and I know it does happen with other survey sites I have looked into.
Final Thoughts & What I Recommend
Valued Opinions is a legit site and I see nothing wrong with them when it comes to paid survey sites. However, I am not a big fan of paid survey sites in general. They all pay way too little and in my opinion are a waste of time.
If you do want to earn pocket change taking surveys online then you might want to look into SwagBucks instead. They are also a paid survey site but they offer a ton of other ways to make money too, like play games, watch videos, and more.
But like I said, I don’t really recommend any paid survey site. They just don’t pay much at all and there are better ways to make money online with your spare time.
I make a living working online for myself and I sure as heck am not going around taking paid surveys. I have written a post on what I do to make money online, how it all works, and how others can do the same. You can click the link below to read about it.
