Just to make it clear here, I am reviewing the business opportunity that Traci Lynn Jewelry offers here, not the products.

Overview

Traci Lynn Jewelry has been around for a while now. This company was founded in 1989 by Dr. Traci Lynn.

As I’m sure you already know this company is all about jewelry. They sell bracelets, earrings, rings, charm jewelry, and have even branched out into selling bags.

The part of it all that brought you to this review is how they employ a Direct Selling business model, which means that anyone can sign up to become a consultant and go out there and sell Traci Lynn Jewelry and make money. Another important element of their business model is that it has a mlm structure, which means that you can recruit other members into the business and earn money from their efforts.

Cost to Join

In order to join in on the business opportunity you first need to purchase a Starter Kit. They offer 3 different kits that you can purchase that are priced as follows…

  • Starter Kit – $99
  • Basic Kit – $350
  • Executive Kit – $650

These kits are designed to give you a boost to get your home based Traci Lynn Jewelry business off the ground and up and running. These kits provide business materials along with jewelry that you can sell, show, or wear around. The difference between the cheaper kits and the more expensive kits are the amount of jewelry that you get to start with.

The Compensation Plan

There are 7 different ways you can earn money in this business and I’ll touch upon each briefly. This may seem a bit confusing at first hen I’ll put everything in perspective.

1) Retail Profits

As a consultant you will be selling jewelry directly to customers or via your online store (which is one thing you will get when you start). You will earn 25% on retail sales when you start but as you move up the ranks you can earn up to 50%.

2) Power Seller Bonuses

Once you hit certain PRV (personal retail volume) milestones, you can get an extra 5-25% commissions. The PRV is the volume of retail sales you make.

3) Fast Start Bonuses

When you recruit new consultants in, you can receive Fast Start Bonuses of 10% of their commissionable volume (CV) within their first 60 days.

This works 2 levels down, meaning you can get this 10% from the people you personally recruit and the people that your recruits recruit.

This is a uni-level mlm structure and there can be an infinite number of people on these first 2 levels.

4) Group Volume Override

You can earn 3% of all commissionable volume of retail sales from your entire “team” aka your downline.

5) Level Overrides

You can get 10% Level Overrides from all CV of retail sales made by consultants up to 3 levels beneath you. This is also based on a uni-level structure, but this goes 3 levels down.

6) Generation Overrides

Once people on your team move up the ranks high enough, they break off and form their own team. This is called your generation. You can earn up to 4% commissions on these separate teams’ CV up to 4 levels down.

7) Advancement Bonuses

When one of your team members moves up to the rank of EDIR you will receive a matching bonus. You can get up to $25,000 bonuses.

Putting This MLM Structure Into Perspective

This mlm structure is all uni-level. And as I mentioned above, this can grow outward infinitely.

The diagram below shows a uni-level comp plan. You are the blue person, the red people are your level 1, and the orange people are your level 2, and so on.

There can be an infinite number of people on each level. The red people are those that you personally recruit in and the orange are those that your recruits recruit in.

I know this can be confusing if you are not familiar with mlm’s, but the one key point to take away from all of this is that recruitment of new members is KEY.

MLM structures are all about recruitment. If you want to make good money being a consultant with this business you are going to have to take full advantage of this mlm structure and recruit, recruit, recruit.

Is This a Pyramid Scheme?

No, this isn’t a pyramid scheme although it does have many similar characteristics to one. In order for it to be considered a pyramid scheme the business would have to be overly dependent upon recruiting new members in as consultants rather than retail sales to the general public.

Although they obviously do really push consultants to recruit more people in, they also do put a fair amount of emphasis on making product sales to the general public. So I just don’t think you could call this a pyramid scheme and I guess the FTC agrees with me because they haven’t shut it down yet.

Final Thoughts & What I Recommend

Well… Traci Lynn Jewelry is not a scam. Although they do rely heavily on recruitment and this leads to consultants recruiting by deceptive means, I still say that the company is legit.

One important thing to note is that if you want to get into this business you are going to have to be a recruitment machine if you want to make it. If you have that salesperson type of personality then you might be good for the job, but if not you are going to find this very difficult.

The majority of people that get involved in mlm’s like this end up failing and this is because to be successful you have to climb your way to the top, moving up ranks and recruiting more and more people beneath you.

I tried to find an income disclosure by the company but could not. It seems that they haven’t released any official income disclosures to the public and one can only speculate as to why.

But anyways. If you love jewelry a lot have that salesperson type personality where you think you can make it in this business then give it a go.

If you are like me and are just not the salesperson type and don’t think a recruitment style business like this is right for you.. and you want another option for making money with your own business, you should take a peek at how I make a living working online (link below). I work for myself online and its a pretty awesome career. In the post I wrote I explain what it is that I do, how it all works, and how others can do the same.
