Is Paribus A Scam? Here Is What You Need To Know

If you are interested in signing up for Paribus to make some extra money, but wondering is Paribus a scam?, then you came to the right place. I understand that you may be concerned about this being a scam because you do have to grant them access to your email account. And with your email account access they have potential to do a lot of harm to you, if they would want to.

In this review I’ll clear up some questions and concerns you may have and give you a good idea of what its all about and what you are getting yourself into if you sign up.

Note: This is not your ordinary cashback app. If you are looking for regular old cashback on shopping then I suggest Ibotta. But I still would recommend Paribus on top of that because they earn you cash in different ways.

  • Type: Cashback (not your ordinary cashback though)
  • Rating: 8/10 (I really like Paribus. They offer something very unique and earn you free money basically, although not much)

Why Paribus Is Awesomehow paribus works

Sometimes when you make a purchase you might later find that the item you purchase goes on sale. You might be bummed that you spent and extra $10 on it when all you had to do was wait a day or two in order to get it for the sale price.

Well did you know that many stores have price guarantees and you can actually get products for the sale price even though you already purchased it? Its something many people don’t know about but you can actually get money back on the items you purchased for full-price, that now went on sale.

And did you know that Paribus finds you these past purchases that you can now get money back from? Its scans your purchase recipients, finds these price changes, and files price adjustment claims on your behalf. Pretty awesome!

How Paribus Works

How this all works is very simple for you.

1) Sign Up  & Connect Your Email Account

You can sign up by downloading the Paribus App on the Apple Store, or you can sign up on any computer or phone by entering your email address.

Paribus integrates with Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, and pretty much every email account without any problems. There might be some email providers that it won’t work with but I am not aware of any.

2) Link A Credit Card To Your Account

Don’t get worried about this. This is just so that they can collect their 25% fee. Thats right, they don’t do this for free.

But the 25% fee that they collect is just 25% of the money that they get back for you. So you are still making free money basically. You will receive 75% of the price-match difference.

The reason that you have to link your credit card is because Paribus can ‘t take the 25% out directly from the company repaying you. You are the one who made the purchase and the company only can refund your credit card the money. So Paribus has to wait for you to get the money back and then they take 25% of it.

3) Approve Price Adjustment Opportunities

Paribus will go through your email inbox and find past purchases that are eligible for price adjustment refunds. They will inform you of these opportunities and all you have to do is approve them.

You can choose to decline the potential refund, but I don’t know why you would want to.

4) Sit Back & Get Paid

And thats all you really have to do. Once you approve the receipt for Paribus to get you money back from, you don’t do a thing. Once it is approved you will receive the price adjustment refund back on your original form of payment. And then after that Paribus will take out 25% of that from the credit card you linked.

Instant Payments

Unlike cashback apps and other similar money making opportunities, Paribus gets you your money instantly. They aren’t the ones that actually pay you. You get paid back from the seller you purchased from, but they are the ones that go out and make that payment transaction happen for you.

There is no need to wait until you receive a certain amount of money to cash out. Paribus has nothing to do with any of that.

You will receive your money back on your payment method from the seller instantly upon approval.

What Purchases You Can Get Money Back On

You will not be able to get money back with every online purchase. First of course your prior purchase must currently be selling at a lesser price, the seller must have some sort of price difference guarantee, and the seller must also be one of Paribus’ supported merchants.

Paribus is partnered with a bunch of big time merchants like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Old Navy, Zappos, Macy’s, and plenty more.

You can see the full list of merchants they are currently partnered with to the right. There is no reason why anyone who signs up with Paribus can’t make some money. I’m sure you shop in at least one of these stores online.

Concerns With Paribus

You shouldn’t worry about linking your credit card or your email to Paribus. I have never had a problem with them and I don’t know of anyone that has when it comes to that.

Email Access

They will have access to your email inbox and they will be able to see everything, but they are only looking for receipts. Its not like you are going to open up your email and find a bunch of emails that they read. Thats just not how they operate.

Also you have control over what email receipts they act upon. If you don’t want them to file a cash adjustment claim then you can decline for them to do so. You are still in control of what they do.

And don’t worry, they don’t sell your data.

Linked Credit Card

As I explained earlier, you will have to link a credit card to Paribus. This is so they can take a 25% cut out of the money they get back for you.

I haven’t had any problem with them overcharging or anything like that and I would trust them if I were you.

Paribus Complaints

As with everything, there are going to be some complaints no matter how good something is. With Paribus you won’t find much because they are relatively new and because they are good at doing what they do. But there are some…

Not Automatically Filing Price Adjustment Claims

One complaint that I have seen around online is that Paribus isn’t automatically filing and taking care of the price adjustment claims, that they are just going through people’s receipts and finding ones that have the ability to get cash back, yet they aren’t acting on them.

From what I know there could be one of two problems here.

First off, the people complaining about this might not be confirming the receipts that Paribus finds for them. Remember, Paribus finds them and then you confirm them. After this Paribus will automatically file the claim and get you your money back.

If that is not the problem then there must be some technical issue. And for this I would suggest contacting Paribus support, or you could simply set up a new account and try again, I mean it only takes a couple minutes.

They Take Too Much Money From You!

Of course we want to make as much money as possible, but lets be realistic here.. Paribus has to make money too. 25% is a big chunk of money, but I can’t really complain to much about this. I mean, if it weren’t for Paribus in the first place I sure as heck wouldn’t be getting any price adjustment refunds and I’m sure you wouldn’t be going through your emails and checking current product prices either.

So the way I see this is that you are still getting money that you wouldn’t be getting without Paribus.

Is Paribus A Scam? Final Thoughts

Definitely not. They are awesome and I really like what they bring to the table. There are not many other places like Paribus, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot more start coming out because of how well this place works.

So Paribus is not a scam and they get you money that you otherwise probably would never see. But are they worth signing up for? That all depends on how much online shopping you do. If you are someone that does pretty much all their shopping online then I would definitely say YES you should sign up. But if you are someone that doesn’t do much at all, then whats the point really.

If you don’t shop much online and you are only going to make a few pennies a year with this then its not really worth hooking your credit card up to along with your email. But if you shop a lot then go for it. Personally, I do just about all of my shopping online so this does ok for me.

But don’t expect to make much. This is only good for putting a some pocket change back in your pocket every once in a while. If you are looking to make a sizable income online then I suggest you read about how I make money online.

I make a living working online for myself and I sure as heck am not going around buying things online like crazy and getting money back. I have written a post on what I do to make money online, how it all works, and how others can do the same. You can click the link below to read about it.
