Mr Rebates Review
- Website: mrrebates.com
- Price: Free to Join
- Rating: 8/10 (Decent way to make cashback online, only online though)
Mr Rebates has been around since 2002 and currently offers cashback at over 2,500 different stores. In order to be in business that long they have to be doing something right, wouldn’t you think? The answer is yes, they are a pretty good cashback app all in all, although Ibotta is still my number 1 cashback choice. But anyway, the first thing I’ll be going over is how the whole thing works and how you can start making money for shopping right now.
How To Get CashBack With Mr Rebates
The process can be broken down into 4 really easy steps…
1) Sign Up!
Of course the first thing you will have to do is sign up at mrrebates.com, which is free to do. You will get $5 as a bonus for signing up after you make your first purchase and for cashback.
2) Find Stores You Are Going To Shop At
There are over 2,500 stores you can choose from so it shouldn’t be a problem for you to find one that you like. Once you find one you like, click on it and it will show you all the items that are available for cashback.
3) Go Shopping
Now you need to actually go to the store and buy those items. But you aren’t actually driving to the store. Mr Rebats is all online cashback shopping. So once you find a cashback offer you want you just click on it an are redirected to the online store to make the purchase.
Its important that you make the purchase after being directed from Mr Rebates to the store. If you click around the store and then come back to the item to purchase, the tracking information might be lost and you might not receive credit on Mr Rebates for your purchase.
4) Get Paid
It will take around 3-5 days before you see the cashback show up in your account. But even at that point it will just show up as “pending”. The money will be credited to your account for you to keep within 30 days.
How To Get Paid
Once you do receive the money in your account you need to cash out so you an actually use that money. The minimum cash out amount is $10, so you will have to wait until you have that amount before you can do so.
Once you have the minimum you can cash out via PayPal or even choose to get a check by mail.
Note: Your payment won’t be processed until the beginning of the following month. This is just the way they do it. So if you cash out on November 9th, you won’t receive your money until the beginning of December.
There Are Tons Of Choices at Mr Rebates
You have problems if you can’t find a store that you like at Mr Rebates. Their list of 2,500+ stores includes all the big online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, eBay, etc.
And its not limited to just retail stores. They also offer cashback for shopping at places like Hotels.com, where you book hotel stays.
How Much Can You Make With Mr Rebates
Well of course that all depends on how much online shopping you do.
But just to give you an idea of what you can expect, here is a list of some cashback offers that are available right now along with the percentage of cashback you will get back…
As you can see some of them offer cashback sitewide, from any purchase, and others only offer cashback for specific purchases.
This is a pretty average list, with cashback offers from 3% to 8%.
So lets say you buy a pair of shoes on Eastbay for $70. Since there is an 8% cashback offering right now you will get $5.60 back on your purchase.
Its nothing great, but if you do a lot of online shopping this will add up fast.
Mr Rebates Complaints.. What You Need To Know
One of the biggest complaints I have come across is from people not receiving their cashback from purchases, which is a the whole point of using Mr Rebates in the first place.
Not Receiving Cashback
I am willing to bet that the number one reason for this is the fault of the user.
Its important that you don’t click all around before purchasing. You should purchase the item after being directed to the store from Mr Rebates. If you click all around there is a chance that the tracking code, which tracks your purhase, gets messed up and you don’t receive credit.
So if you want to browse around the store open up a new window.
Is Mr Rebates a Scam?.. Final Thoughts
Mr Rebates is definitely not a scam. Sure there are people that have not received cashback for their shopping, but there are always going to be errors. The amount of people not getting paid is the very slim minority. All in all Mr Rebates pays when they are supposed to and is a legit business.
I do recommend Mr Rebates for those who are heavy into online shopping. For those who prefer in-store shopping and are looking to get cashback, check out Ibotta, which is my number 1 cashback recommendation.
