Before I get into this review the first thing you need to know is what Inbox Dollars is exactly…
What Is Inbox Dollars?
InboxDollars is a GPT (Get Paid To) site that offers members money to do simple things like taking surveys, watching TV, playing games, completing tasks etc. (which I will go over). If you have ever heard of Swagbucks, then this is pretty much the same type of deal. And if not, I’ll explain everything.
The purpose behind this business is market research. Big companies pay a lot of money to learn about consumer opinions, spending habits, etc. This is how Inbox Dollars makes their money.
But in order for Inbox Dollars to be able to get peoples’ opinions and learn about them, they have to entice them with money.
So that is how it works. They want your opinions and to see your behaviors and they pay you for them.
Ways To Get Paid
- Responding to Email Adverts – You will receive emails that you will get paid to open
- Taking Surveys – Taking a short 10-20 minute survey will earn you money
- Playing Games – You can play simple strategy, card, sports games, etc. and get paid to do so
- Signing Up For Offers – Signing up for free trails and such will earn you money
- CashBack – You can get cashback on shopping
- Searching the Web – Use their search bar and you can earn just for searching around online
- Referring People – Refer your friends and get paid when they do
How Much Do They Pay?
The answer is not much… not much at all.
Responding to emails will earn you less than 10 cents. And taking a 10 minute survey you are looking at earning less than a dollar.
Overall, this is definitely NOT a good way to make money. I only recommend it to people that are looking for a “fun” and easy way to earn a little extra pocket change in their spare time.
How Do You Get Paid?
Once your account balance reaches $30 you are able to cash out. That is the threshold. If you don’t make it there you will not be able to get your money.
They offer 3 forms of payment…
If you choose to get a check or a prepaid card mailed to you, you can expect it to take up to 2 weeks to get there.
You have all the complaints that you normally have with a GPT site of this kind.
Anyone that is looking to make decent money should absolutely NOT consider InboxDollars. I have never earned even close to minimum wage ($7.25/hr where I live) with them and don’t really see it as possible unless you go around signing up for free trials, which I don’t suggest.
When I signed up for Inbox Dollars I knew what to expect so I can’t really complain. I have tried many other GPT sites and none of them pay much.
Not Qualifying For Surveys
Surveys are one of the ways to get paid at InboxDollars that lead to a lot of frustration and heated tempers. It is not uncommon to start a survey, spend 5 minutes or so answering questions and then find out that you do not qualify. You are kicked out of the survey with no compensation for your time.
I think they could do a better job at matching members with appropriate surveys. So this is a complaint that I have along with many others.
Its not even that uncommon to be disqualified from multiple consecutive surveys before finding one that is fit for you.
I have heard of people having their accounts suspended just for being inactive for a few weeks. I have not personally encountered this problem but it is something that I can see happening. So just be aware of this.
Is Inbox Dollars Worth Your Time?
Honestly I would say no. I gave this a try and now I am done with it. Its definitely not a scam or anything, its just not worth it to me. With any GPT site like this you are only going to make pocket change. And if that is what you are looking for, then I would suggest SwagBucks over this place. I just think you can make more with Swagbucks, although still not much.
The bottom line is that you are going to be spending your time on something that will make you much less than minimum wage. If you are looking to make money in your spare time then why not consider something like affiliate marketing? I work online as an affiliate marketer and can work however long I want, whenever I want, etc. And I make a heck of a lot more than minimum wage.
Anyway, I’m just throwing that out there. Affiliate marketing is awesome and you can learn more about it HERE.
Also, since you are interested in InboxDollars, which offers cashback, I think it is worth mentioning iBotta. Ibotta is a cashback app where you get paid for your normal everyday grocery shopping. Its pretty awesome and its my favorite of all the cashback apps. Its free and it makes you money doing what you are going to do regardless.
