Is AWOL Academy a Scam? You Might Want To Read This!
If you are looking to make money online you may have come across AWOL Academy. But are they legit? Or is AWOL Academy a scam? To potentially save you and other readers from falling into a trap, I have reviewed this program to see if it really lives up to the hype.
Now before I get started I want to say that I think there are many things that constitute a scam. It could be a complete scam where it provides no value and are only in it to make money off of you. Or it could be a “semi-scam” where it provides a lesser value than you were led to believe, leading to nothing but utter discouragement.
But anyway… on to the review…
AWOL Academy Review
- Name: AWOL Academy (aka Project AWOL)
- Website: awolacademy.com (or projectawol.com/academy)
- Creators: KAMERON GEORGE & KEALA KANAE
- Price: $99 – $9,997 (Starts out at $99)
- Recommended: For some people, more on this later
Before I get on my merry way with this review I want to point out that AWOL Academy and Project AWOL are the same exact programs. I don’t know why the creators decided to rename the program, but for some reason Project AWOL came first and now it seems that AWOL Academy is the main name they are promoting this program under. It is likely that this is because Project AWOL got in a scuffle with Empower Nework (an MLM scheme that imploded and people lost lots of money) over compliance fraud.
So maybe the real question should be is Project AWOL a scam?
The Different Levels of AWOL Academy
There are 6 different levels or “academies” as they call them within the AWOL Academy. Each academy includes different types and levels of training in various aspects of online marketing. These include the following…
- For beginners
- Takes you step by step through creating a sales funnel that converts visitors to paying customers
- You also get a website, domain, and done-for-you lead pages and more
- Teaches you how to maximize your profits from an email list
- Shares “secret” strategies that pro email marketers use
- This is all about converting visitors to paying customers, its more advanced than the Pro Academy
- Teaches you how to use “hypnotic” language to entice people to buy
- Much of this teaches you get sales from somewhat of a psychological perspective
- All about getting quality traffic to your website
- Teaches you how to get “targeted traffic”, which converts much better
- This is all about long term wealth from online marketing
- If you have made it to this point you are probably making decent money, now its all about maintaining that
- This is looking at your business from a bigger, more strategic perspective
- This training brings you information from top notch IM’s
- This is the top of the AWOL Academy
- Here its all about staying on top of everything going on in the online world on a week by week basis
- You get all the inside info at this level and are probably making some pretty good money
- Get live support, which is something you won’t get at any other level
Update: Apparently the AWOL Elite program is now being sold for $8,810 but can only be purchased with the “complete package”, meaning you need to purchase everything AWOL has, which will total $14,997.
- This includes everything AWOL has to offer
- Get a ticket to a live AWOL conference which costs $1k. Still have to pay to get their and for hotel/food though.
This Is NOT For Those With Little Money
One thing that you NEED to know is that you will absolutely need some extra cash to get started here. And I’m talking EXTRA, and I mean in addition to the $99 (minimum) that you will buy into this program at.
Well for one, you will be upsold on the more costly additional training. That training isn’t just sitting there for you to buy in when you want. After becoming a member of AWOL you will have the additional training pushed on you. And two, because the traffic generation method that they focus on comes from Paid Advertising.
Every business needs traffic and there are a lot of ways to get website traffic in the online world. Without traffic you will not make any money so it is a must.
There are free traffic generation methods and their are paid traffic generation methods. Both have their pros and cons, but free traffic generation methods are A LOT less risky obviously.
There are a hundred ways you can pay to advertise online. There is Pinterest, Facebook, Google, Bing, and plenty more places.
Paid advertising gets a bad rep a lot of the times because.. well… you have to pay for it! Its a tricky game and without any experience in advertising you are likely to lose a lot of money, unless of course you have amazing training that teaches you the right way to go about it.
So is AWOL that amazing training that you need??
Well the Pro Academy for $99 sure isn’t. What you will find is that the info and training provided here isn’t sufficient and you will be inclined to purchase the Traffic Academy. SO GET READY TO TAKE OUT YOUR WALLET AGAIN!
Paid Ads are not easy… at all! You can blow though money very fast doing this if you aren’t careful.
To be fair.. even the creator himself says that this is not for those struggling financially, so good for him for saying that.
A Secret They Don’t Want You To Know
All of the “done for you” systems that you get when you buy into this program are designed for ONE THING… to make sales, which is great. But there is more to it than just this.
They are designed to make sales for AWOL Academy. These sales funnels, lead pages, etc. are all built for selling AWOL Academy to other people.
If you want to buy in to AWOL to start an online business that promotes exercise equipment (for example), you need to think about this more. I’m not saying that it is impossible to do so by any means… all I’m saying is that this is all designed to sell AWOL.
The people that are making big money with AWOL are doing so from promoting AWOL. Its one of those systems that you buy into to make money online and then are pushed to make money online by getting others to buy in.
One of the reasons that you find people going crazy promoting this program is because it has a very lucrative commission structure.
I don’t have all the inside information on this part of AWOL, but I do know that you can make some pretty big commissions selling their higher priced products.
This, along with the fact that the sales funnels and lead pages are designed to sell AWOL, leads to pretty much every one that signs up trying to sell AWOL to other people.
Is AWOL Academy a Scam? Do I Recommend It?
I do not consider it to be a scam, although there are many affiliates that lie and trick you in order to get you to sign up.
AWOL Academy does provide a lot of top notch training and tools (which really is good), I just don’t like the way that they do it. Much of their different academy levels are severely overpriced, and this is part of the reason why their commission structure is so lucrative… because members sell these overpriced academies to other people and also upsell existing members.
If they didn’t have high ticket products to sell to other people then the commissions wouldn’t be that great. So they get you to buy high priced ticketed products and then you are probably going to go out and do the same, selling them to other people.
The whole system is without a doubt designed to sell AWOL Academy to other people, everything from their done-for-you sales funnels, to their lead pages, to their commission structure tells me this.
So do I recommend this program? No, not really. Unless you have a lot of money sitting around and don’t mind tricking people to buy into the same program.. then not really.
What I Recommend
I would still rank Wealthy Affiliate above AWOL Academy when it comes to affiliate marketing training. Wealthy Affiliate is similar to AWOL Academy because they also are an online business platform that provides training, tools, support, and other resources for people to make money online in affiliate marketing.
What makes them a better choice, in my opinion, is that they provide a lot more training, they are less expensive and teach you ways to get free traffic rather than being mostly focused on paid advertising, and they have a great online community where you can communicate and share information with other members.
At Wealthy Affiliate you will learn how to create a website, drive traffic to that site, and ultimately make money via affiliate marketing, aka promoting other people’s stuff online.
It is a great place for beginners to start out and it is where I started out. There is easy to follow step by step training. And possibly the best part of it all is that they have a free membership where you can get started for free and test drive the system. I have already written a review that you can read by clicking the link below if you want to know more…
