  • Name: AmeriPlan
  • Website: ameriplanusa.com
  • Founders: Dennis & Daniel Bloom
  • Price: $24.95/month – $150/month + $20 – $30 registration fee (one time only)
  • Rating: Revealed at the end

Overview & Background

AmeriPlan is a MLM style business that provides discounts on products that fall into the health and dental categories. Although they do provide discounts and cover some of the expenses that come with health and dental care, they make it very clear that they are not an insurance company.

AmeriPlan has been around for quite some time. They were founded in 1992 by Dennis & Daniel Bloom, who are brothers.

Overall, I would consider them to have a pretty rating among their customers/business partners. On Indeed.com they have a rating of 4.2/5 and on GlassDoor they have a rating of 3.4/5. People that post on Glassdoor tend to rate businesses pretty harsh, so a 3.4 is fairly good.AmeriPlan Reviews

Who AmeriPlan Is For

There are 2 types of people that AmeriPlan is for, those who are in need of medical and dental related products and services, of course, and those who are just looking to run a home-based business promoting AmeriPlan to other people.

The reason AmeriPlan is good for people with the need for health related products & services is because it can save them money! Insurance plans don’t cover everything, and with AmeriPlan you can get some extra coverage on top of what you already get. There are 3 coverage packages offered that I will go over next.

As far as people looking to become IBO’s (independent business owners), AmeriPlan is something that any member can go out and promote and earn commissions on sales. They have a very lucrative commission structure and that is the reason there are so many people trying to recruit others into buying a subscription. I’ll go more over this later.

AmeriPlan’s Products & Services

AmeriPlan offers a good number of different membership plans, but the 3 most common include…

AmeriPlan MED Plus

This plan will cost you $24.95/month and covers you entire household. Its coverage includes…

  • Access to doctors by phone and email 24/7
  • Savings on current & prior medical bills
  • Discounts on prescription drugs
  • Discounts on MRI, CT Scans, Blood work, and other ancillary services

On top of the $24.95/month, there is a one-time registration fee of $20.

AmeriPlan Dental Plus

This plan is also $24.95/month and covers your entire household. It’s coverage includes…

  • Dental care coverage, which includes teeth cleaning, fillings & crowns, orthodontics care, etc.
  • Vision car coverage, which includes eye exams, frames, lenses, etc.
  • Prescriptions drug discounts
  • Chiropractic service discounts
  • Wellness screening discounts
  • Hearing car discounts

As with the plan mentioned above, this one is also going to have a one-time $20 registration fee.

AmeriPlan Deluxe Plus

The Deluxe Plus plan will cost you $39.95/month and provides coverage for the entire household as well. Basically this plan is both the MED Plus plan and the Dental Plus plan combined. It’s coverage provides…

  • Access to doctors by phone and email 24/7
  • Savings on current & prior medical bills
  • Discounts on prescription drugs
  • Discounts on MRI, CT Scans, Blood work, and other ancillary services
  • Dental care coverage, which includes teeth cleaning, fillings & crowns, orthodontics care, etc.
  • Vision car coverage, which includes eye exams, frames, lenses, etc.
  • Prescriptions drug discounts
  • Chiropractic service discounts
  • Wellness screening discounts
  • Hearing car discounts

The one-time registration fee for this plan will be $30.

As I noted, these are the 3 most common plans. If you really feel like getting some serious discounts then there are more expensive plans available. I’m not going to go over them, but just to give you an idea their AmeriPlan Platinum FreedomPass costs $150/month and has more benefits, such as dining, automotive, recreation, shopping, & more discounts

AmeriPlan Compensation Structure

There is a reason that some people seem to go crazy promoting AmeriPlan. And this reason is that recruiting others to join can be very lucrative if you are good at it.

By recruiting other people into AmeriPlan and getting them to promote it to others, just as you have, you can make money off of the sales that your recruits make, and the sales that their recruits make, and so on. This is what you call MLM, or multi-level marketing.

Their compensation structure is listed as follows…

ameriplan compensation plan

I don’t want to get too into this because I feel that I could write an entire post on it. But basically what you need to know is that it goes 5 generations deep at the most.

If you are good enough to work your way up to the top level you can earn 15% from your recruits (1st gen), 10% from your recruits’ recruits (2nd gen), 5% from your recruits’ recruits’ recruits (3rd gen), 3% from your recruits’ recruits’ recruits’ recruits (4 gen), and 1% from your recruits’ recruits’ recruits’ recruits’ recruits (5th gen).

I know that sounds confusing, but it really isn’t

If you can work your way up to the top, there is no doubt that a lot of money can be made. The problem is getting there.

2 Ways To Make Money With AmeriPlan

You can make money by either selling AmeriPlan’s membership plan product to people, or you can make money by recruiting other people to go out and sell AmeriPlan’s products.

If you want to make as much money as possible, then of course you are going to go out and try to recruit other people so that you can take advantage of AmeriPlan’s 5 generation deep compensation structure.

But even when you do actively try to recruit new members in, you are going to get people that are not interested in recruiting members of their own and are only interested in the membership for the discount health and dental benefits.

AmeriPlan Complaints

There is nothing unusual or spectacular about the complaints you will find. As with any business, no matter how good they are, there are going to be complaints.

If you search around on complaint boards such as Pissed Consumer you will find complaints about their coverage not covering what it is supposed to, people being charged for their membership after they canceled, and so on.

The biggest complaint has got to be the fact that if you are going to try to make good money with AmeriPlan you are going to pretty much have to heckle and harass friends, family, and strangers to sign up. This is common with any MLM style business.

But there really aren’t that many complaints considering how long this business has been around.

Final Thoughts, Rating, & Opportunity Outlook

7.5/10

I may not be a huge fan of MLM businesses, but AmeriPlan does provide good services, has a good compensation plan, and has been in business since 1992. That said, I gave them a pretty good rating of a 7.5/10 and can tell you that they are not a scam.

But if I were you, I would give it a second thought on whether you should join or not. The opportunity isn’t as great as it once was. They have been around for a while and the market is much more saturated and there is just overall much less interest in AmeriPlan.

If you take a look at Google Trends, which shows the popularity of search terms over a period of time, you can see that people have lost interest…
