In this short review I’ll be going over some of the more important things you should know that I found as well as whether or not I think its worth your time.
American Consumer Opinion Review
- Website: acop.com
- Type: Paid survey site
- Cost to Join: Free
- Rewards: Paypal cash, sweepstakes,
- Recommended?: For some, more on this
American Consumer Opinion has been around for a while. Back in 1986 it started out as a mail survey panel where they would send surveys out in the mail for people to fill out. Nowadays its much simpler and you can fill these surveys out right on your computer and make money doing so. They also offer several other ways to make money.
The entire reason for this site’s existance is to conduct market research. Companies pay them to collect people’s opinions so that they can improve products and services. Then American Consumer Opinion passes some of this money on to the survey takers as an incentive to take the surveys in the first place.
This site is free to join and anyone can sign up even in countries outside the US.
How You Make Money
There are 4 ways that you can earn some extra money at American Consumer Opinion. These include the following…
Taking online surveys is the main way to make money with this site. Most surveys will be on the shorter side and will take anywhere from 5 – 25 minutes but there are also longer ones that can take up to 40 minutes. The longer the survey the more you are paid as a reward generally.
There are 2 types of surveys that you will get, study and screener surveys. For each “study” survey you will be rewarded with 100 to 5,000 points upon completion and for each “screener” survey you will get anywhere from 5 – 50 points. The screeners are more common.
These surveys can literally be about anything, you never know what to expect.
You can also earn points (which then convert to money) by testing out products. It is rare that you will get the opportunity to do this but it is still possible. What happens is you will receive an offer to test a product and you can accept it. You will be sent the product and test it out for a while and then review it.
You will get paid a lot more for testing out products than you will completing surveys.
Here you will simply be looking at ads and giving feedback on the ad itself. You will basically be reviewing how good the ad grabbed your attention and help advertisers make more effective ads.
This is something that you don’t see very often at all on survey panel sites like this and I like that they offer this way to earn some money.
And lastly you can earn money by referring other people to sign up at American Consumer Opinion. You will earn an entry into the monthly drawing for each referral. This is worth 5,000 points.
Once you get 1,000 points in your account you are eligible to cash out for real money. 1,000 points = $10
There are several ways to cash out but the best way in my opinion is PayPal. This way you get your money fast and its real money that you can use for anything.
How Much Can You Make?
There is no set wage that you will make as a member or anything like that. Your pay will be based on the surveys and other opportunities that you participate in and this is dependent on the individual.
Not everyone gets the same opportunity. Some people complain about getting barely any survey offers while others talk about how they get a lot of surveys and this is one of their favorite survey sites.
The amount of surveys they give you is based on your credibility and on your profile. Some demographics will get more surveys than others because market research demands this.
Overall I can give you a good answer and tell you that you won’t be making much however. There is no one that can take survey after survey back to back and keep earning money. The opportunity just isn’t there and it doesn’t work like that.
Overall there really aren’t too many different complaints about this site, however there are a good bit about the same problems. These include…
There are a fair number of complaints about it taking forever for the payment to come through after cashing out. Some people are claiming it takes over 2 months which in my opinion is ridiculous.
This is one of the most common complaints I have come across and it is very strange to me. Many people are even claiming to have not received payment at all and can’t get through to the support staff.
Lack of Surveys
Some people just aren’t going to receive many surveys as I mentioned earlier. This is a bummer but its just the way it is. All in all I have seen survey sites with far less survey opportunities than this so I can’t complain too much here.
Final Thoughts & What I Recommend
I don’t consider American Consumer Opinion to be a scam, however… I don’t know what is going on with all the payment complaints but something needs to be fixed.
All in all American Consumer Opinion is a decent paid survey site but I still don’t really recommend it. Overall, it is lacking in opportunity. I would probably recommend SwagBucks the most out of sites like this because they have a lot of ways that you can earn money and there is just a lot more opportunity with them.
However, I don’t particularly recommend any paid survey site, unless you are looking for an extremely easy way to earn some extra pocket change. The reason is that you only earn “pocket change” with them. There are just better ways to make money online in your spare time.
I actually make a living working online and I sure as heck am not going around taking paid surveys. I have written a post on what I do to make money online, how it all works, and how others can do the same. You can click the link below to read about it if you want to.
