How to Become an Amazon Affiliate Marketer – 6 Simple Steps
Being an affiliate marketer for Amazon can be a very rewarding career if you do it right and are good at it. But how do you start? Learning how to become an Amazon affiliate marketer is important. This isn’t something you just go out and do one day and make a ton of money. You need to get on the right path to be successful.
Affiliate marketing is one of the least stressful online career paths in my opinion and it is how I make most of my online income. What makes it so awesome is that you make money without having your own product. All you do is refer people to Amazon and have them buy products that are proven to already sell good.
Amazon has the largest affiliate program in the world, so it is no wonder that you want to be an affiliate with them. There is a lot of opportunity there.
But how do you get started? Where do you begin?
I’m going to go over step by step how I recommend beginners to get started. I know this works from years of experience and have helped many others get started doing exactly this..
Step 1: Figure Out What You Want To Sell
When it comes to affiliate marketing it is more beneficial to focus on a particular group of people (niche) and target them. You will make more sales this way and earn more money.
So what are you interested in? What are you hobbies?
Do you like camping? Then sell camping products. Do you like cooking? Then sell cooking products. It doesn’t really matter. Amazon has over 450 million products in the US alone, so there are plenty of options.
Step 2: Build A Website
Everyone seems to be scared of building a website when they really shouldn’t be. Its not hard anymore like it used to be.
I’ll show you later how you can build a site in a few minutes and also how you can get a free website and hosting. This way everything is simple and you don’t have to spend a dime.
Your website is going to be based around what you chose as your interest.
Ex: If you like camping your website can have a camping theme to it and you can promote Amazon products that have to do with camping.
Step 3: Get Visitors To Your Website
Now you need people to come visit your website. Without any website traffic, it will be impossible to make any money.
So how do you get traffic?
Do you advertise online? You could but I don’t recommend that because it can dig a hole in your wallet very fast. If you don’t know what you are doing advertising is not worth it.
Luckily there are other ways to get traffic… FREE ways. My recommendation, and the way I get 99% of my website traffic, is through Online Content Creation.
Online Content Creation is simple.. Your write content on your website, it gets ranked in Google, and people search Google and click on your site. This is exactly how you found this article you are reading now. I wrote it on this website and you found it on Google, Bing, or Yahoo.
What do you write about? You can write about anything. If your website is about camping then you can write about good camping gear, or the best tents, or the best camping spots in a certain location, or anything. If your site is about dogs then you can write about the best dog food, or potty training a dog, etc.
You can literally write about anything you want.
The best part about getting traffic to your site with Online Content Creation is that it is completely free and it is unlimited. You can write content one day and get people clicking on your content years later, without doing a thing.
Step 4: Sign Up For Amazon Associates
Amazon Associates is what they call their affiliate program.
The reason I am telling you to sign up after you create your site and get visitors is because of this… Amazon Associates will check your website after you refer your first customer to them. So there is really no point in signing up before you have the means to refer people their.
Signing up is free to do. Just go to Amazon.com, scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says “become an affiliate” and click there.
Step 5: Place Affiliate Links On Your Website
You will get your own unique links that track your sales. You will be linking from your website to Amazon products with these.
Its important not to just spam links all over your site, or Amazon will reject you.
Amazon wants you to help the customers out, not just try to make as many sales as possible.
So here is an example of how to do it.. (I’ll use the camping website example again)
You write an article about 5 Essential Survival Tools that every camper needs to have with them. And in that article you place links to the 5 tools on Amazon so that anyone who reads your article can buy them. Or maybe you write a product review of a Coleman water cooler and place a link to Amazon so that people can buy it.
There are many ways to do it, just avoid coming across as too spammy.
Step 6: Rinse & Repeat Steps 3 & 5
Now you got people coming to your website, people are reading your content, clicking your affiliate links, and you are making money.
All you have to do now is scale it up. Write more content, get more website traffic, get more people clicking your links, and make more money.
