Overview

Angus Reid Forum is a paid survey site that is only available to Canadians. They have been around since 2006 and are one of the biggest survey panels in Canada.

All survey sites are pretty similar, but what makes this place a little different than popular sites like SwagBucks and FeaturePoints is that they conduct research for more non-commercial purposes than most places. Your opinion is used to influence boardrooms, media, and even forms of government.

But of course that probably isn’t your main interest here. You of course need to know how much money they pay so you can decide if its worth your time. And I’ll get into this, but first I want to go over how it all works…

How It Works

Step 1: Join

The first step is to join of course. This doesn’t take long and you can do it in a few minutes. Joining the panel consists of entering your location (in Canada), your gender, race, ethnicity, name, email, etc.

You will also be asked a series of questions so that they can put together a profile for you. This identity survey is so that they can get to know you and better match you with appropriate surveys in the future. This survey will ask questions such as about your household income, grocery shopping, members in your household, etc. They will also ask some random questions to make sure you are not a complete moron (anyone should get these right).

. Once you put in this information you will be emailed with a link that you have to click to confirm your account. After that you are a member and you can start taking surveys and making money.

Note: You should hold off on joining until you read this review.

Step 2: Take Surveys & Earn Survey Dollars

After signing up you will be invited to participate in online surveys. These are relatively short and take anywhere from 5 – 25 minutes.

It might take a bit of time for Angus Reid Forum to match you up with relevant surveys so be patient.

After each survey is completed you will be rewarded with what are called “survey dollars”.

Step 3: Earn Rewards

After you accumulate enough survey dollars in your account you can redeem them for things of real value, such as cash and gift cards for a variety of stores.

What Rewards Can You Get?

Angus Reid Forum provides a variety of ways you can cash out your Survey Dollars. Once you get $50 in your account you are able to cash out via direct deposit, Paylution, for gift cards (Amazon gift cards & Visa pre-paid gift cards available), and for Aeroplan miles.

Personally I would go with the direct deposit just so you don’t have to worry about anything but the choice is yours.

How Much Can You Make?

If you are going into this thinking you are going to be making good money then you are going to be sorely disappointed. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that you won’t make much of anything taking surveys on this site.

You can generally expect to make between $0.50 to $3.50 per survey. You might get some outliers that pay more than that but they are uncommon.

And like I said, each survey can be expected to take from 5 to 25 minutes. Generally the longer surveys pay more and the shorter ones pay less, but occasionally you will get short ones that pay out pretty well.

Complaints

Lack Of Opportunity

The biggest complaint I have found is probably the overall lack of opportunity that you have to make money here. Its not like you can expect to take survey after survey and just keep making money. If you get 1 survey per day then you should consider yourself lucky.

The amount of surveys that you get invited to depends on your profile… where you live, your income, etc. It also depends on your credibility. The more surveys you take the more surveys you will get invited to participate in later on.

Low Pay

There are a fair number of complaints about the low pay. I don’t complain about this because I don’t expect much, but many do.

Final Thoughts & What I Recommend

Overall I like Angus Reid Forum and think it is one of the better paid survey sites out there. It is a legitimate place and definitely not a scam. One thing I really like about this place is that it seems like your opinions are actually getting put to good use, instead of just being used so that companies can market more products. However, if it is money you are looking for then places like SwagBucks are much better choices due to the opportunity they provide.

However, I don’t particularly recommend any paid survey site. If you do the math and also factor in the time that you waste trying to qualify for surveys, then you are almost always making less than minimum wage. To me that just seems like a waste of time and there are better ways to make money online with your spare time.

I actually make a living working online and I sure as heck am not going around taking paid surveys. I have written a post on what I do to make money online, how it all works, and how others can do the same. You can click the link below to read about it if you want to.
